"No Quiet Place"
As I sit
here, an intruder in this place.
A place
I thought would be quiet.
Oh how
wrong was I.
The woods
are alive and well
with peaceful
noise.
The chirp
of the little bird,
which seems
to work as
if he does
not know I sit near.
One lone
bubble bee, buzzing
the black-eyed
suzy, a
turkey
as she comes to roost
for the
night.
It seems
as though I'm the
only one
quiet in this place
Even
though the
darkness
draws near,
the woods
are so alive...
its as
though sleep never comes
in this
place, a place I thought
would be
quiet. In the distances I
hear the
faint sound of
crickets
as they sing a lullaby
for the
setting sun.
What a
sun, if only you
could see
it, it is so beautiful
as it disappears
behind the tall
cypress
trees, illuminating through
the clouds
as if to set them
on fire.
Just when I thought the sun
would set
with nothing more to
offer my
sight,
I
hear the whistle of the hawk
as it sores by
with
his wings
spread wide
as
he flies into
the setting
of the sun.
Oh, No.....This
is not a
Quiet
Place!
